The College of Continuing Education was formed through the merger of the former Department of Vocational Education and Department of Continuing Education in April 2016. Aligned with the development plan of the university, the College of Continuing Education focuses on social training, supplemented by adult academic education and assistance to self-study examination.
As the "Self-study Examination Provincial Service Center for Higher Education of Guizhou Province", the College of Continuing Education holds qualification as the main examining institutes for five undergraduate majors: Accounting, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Tourism Management, and Business Administration. Leveraging the "Provincial Service Center," it employs a blended learning approach that combines online assistance and self-directed study. This model facilitates the integration of self-study examinations into the education of enrolled college students pursuing undergraduate degrees.
The college has been designated as the "Guizhou Provincial Talent Base" (focused on the direction of modern commerce and logistics) by the Leadership Group for Talent Work in Guizhou Province. Additionally, it has received accreditation as the "Guizhou Provincial Professional and Technical Talent Continuing Education Training Base" from the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guizhou Province. Building upon GZUC’s strong disciplines, specialties, and faculty, the college effectively integrates off-campus resources, harnessing the full potential of the base to fulfill its social service function.
Since 2018, the college has successively organized and hosted over 20 training sessions, covering a diverse range of topics including financial accounting, marketing, business administration, new rural construction, and large-scale tourism, for over 2,000 professionals and managers from various fields and organizations such as the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guizhou Province, Guizhou Provincial Health Commission, Guizhou Provincial Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee, Guizhou Provincial Geological and Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau, Guizhou Tyre Co., Ltd., Guizhou Heli Supermarket Group, and Agricultural Bureau of Jinsha County.
In the new era, the college will focus its efforts on the core objective of "Four New Aspects" and prioritize the key elements of the "Four Modernizations”. Making full use of GZUC’s strong disciplines and specialties, as well as the expertise of its faculty, it will actively integrate social resources, build a continuing education expert database, and concentrate on aligning with the ten major projects for innovation and development in the service industry in Guizhou Province. The overarching goal is to fulfill its societal service function and contribute to the high-quality development of Guizhou's economy and society.
