The College of Culture and Art Media is established by integrating the Department of Art and the Department of Media on the basis of the original Department of Art Design. Since the establishment of the major of Computer Art Advertising Design in 1999, it has successively offered majors including Computer Art Design, Decorative Art Design, Visual Communication Design and Production, Advertising Planning and Marketing, and Performance Art. The college has a long history of offering art design major education, and has trained thousands of high-quality application-oriented students engaged in art, design and media for the society.
The college has four administrative offices respectively responsible for the affairs relating to the CPC Party, the Communist Youth League, students, and teaching and research of the college. And it has four teaching and research sections serving four majors including Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, Arts Management and College Chinese, plus a Center for Culture and Arts Education.
The college has well-equipped comprehensive teaching facilities suitable for professional teaching, especially the Center for Culture and Arts Education covering an area of about 1,360 square meters. There are 10 professional laboratories for the design of visual communication, environmental art, digital media, the technology of silk screen plate, copper plate, comprehensive plate, the art of pottery, dyeing, lacquer, and wood. And there are 7 studios serving various aspects such as cultural creative products, printmaking, oil painting, comprehensive painting, red theme (China’s revolutions) painting, comprehensive design, and exhibition of works. In addition, there are also several training rooms for piano, instrumental music, vocal music and dance.
Currently the college offers three undergraduate majors, namely Visual Communication Design, Environmental Design, and Art Management. With the aim of serving the local economic and social construction and improving the quality of talent training, adhering to the university motto(shaping characteristics with faith and integrity, cultivating application abilities with usefulness and evaluation), the college has been conducting practical exploration of engineering education under the guidance of the learning outcomes-oriented concept and actively exploring the methods and means of education and teaching reform. The college has also been dedicated to cultivating high-quality application-oriented talents who take the initiative to meet the needs of the new era with a solid foundation in specialized knowledge, a comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor skills as well as strong practical abilities, business acumen, innovative vitality, a sense of responsibility, and a pragmatic work style.
