On the morning of September 19, 2023, the 2024 Meeting of the Joint Management Committee of Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Program between GZUC and ICMS, was held in the second meeting room of the Hubin Convention Center. The Chinese members included Luo Bing, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and President of GZUC, Wen Daqiang, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President, Wang Yang, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education. The foreign members included Rowan Courtney O'Connor, CEO of ICMS, Dr Trevor Clark, Vice Principal of ICMS, and Jackie Chang, Vice President of ICMS. Office of the President, Department of Teachers Affairs, Office of Scientific Research, School of International Education, and College of Tourism Management attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wen Daqiang, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of GZUC.

Firstly, Luo Bing expressed his gratitude to the various departments and teaching teams of the foreign side for their support and efforts in the project. He hoped that in the next phase of cooperation, both universities could firmly pursue the goal of cooperative education and continuously strive to improve the quality of education.

Rowan stated that the cooperation between ICMS and GZUC provides excellent opportunities for students in GZUC to further their studies in Australia. This partnership also adds cultural diversity to ICMS, promotes teacher-student exchanges, and enhances its international reputation. The Sino-foreign cooperative education program between the two universities plays a crucial role in promoting cross-cultural understanding and advancing international education.

The Joint Management Committee listened to the report from the project leader. Wang Yang detailed the project operation, enrollment, course offerings, Chinese faculty, teaching quality monitoring, student cultivation, efforts to promote student exchanges to Australia, and other concerns to the Management Committee. Jackie Chang explained the involvement of foreign faculty in teaching, the English Improvement Plan, the importance attached to students of the program studying abroad for postgraduate studies, and arrangements for the teaching of excellent foreign faculty at GZUC, promoting teacher-student exchanges, and other related matters.

Finally, the Management Committee of the Program discussed and exchanged views on preparations for the project evaluation from the Ministry of Education, arrangements for Australian faculty to teach in China, faculty from GZUC to study in Australia, and deeper teacher-student exchanges and scientific research cooperation between the two universities, among other issues and the next phase of cooperation.

GZUC has always adhered to open education, learning and borrowing from advanced education concepts, strengthening exchanges and cooperation, and committed to cultivating outstanding talents. In the future, GZUC will explore more areas of cooperation with ICMS, strengthen talent cultivation and education cooperation, and provide more robust support for the advancement of education.
