On September 19th, GZUC held an information session on the cooperative education program in Exhibition Economy and Management at the Hubin Convention Center. Rowan Courtney O'Connor, CEO and President of International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS), Jackie Chang, Vice President of ICMS, Wen Daqiang, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of GZUC, Yu Yue, Manager of ICMS in China Region, Huang Xiaomin, Development Manager of the International Marketing Department of ICMS, Yan Yong, Secretary of the Party General Branch of School of International Education, and some teachers, as well as student representatives from Grade 2023 and other grades attended the information session. The session was chaired by Wang Yang, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education.
First, Rowan delivered a speech expressing his hope that the students would fully grasp the opportunities and resources provided by the cooperative education program between the two universities. He encouraged them to continuously improve their professional skills and language abilities to prepare for studying abroad in the future. He also emphasized the shared values between the two universities, which are of significant importance for successfully running the cooperative education program.
Next, Yu Yue gave a presentation titled "Pathway for Cultivating High-Level International Exhibition Talents." He analyzed the fundamental framework of abilities required in the high-level exhibition industry, including solid professional knowledge, extensive knowledge reserves, good communication skills, excellent practical skills, and a global perspective. He believed that the exhibition industry is highly comprehensive and demands comprehensive abilities for professionals. He also highlighted the promising prospects of the field, affirming that choosing an exhibition major is the right decision. The students actively engaged in discussions and interactions with the speakers and leaders from ICMS regarding course arrangements, preparation for study and life abroad.
Finally, Wen Daqiang delivered a speech in which he encouraged the students to cherish the learning opportunities provided by the cooperative education program. He emphasized that they should clearly recognize themselves as students of both universities and strive to acquire an international perspective through diligent study. He further stressed the importance of implementing the various aspects of the cooperative education program and effectively fulfilling the agreements reached by the Management Committee of the Program, which would contribute to the international development of GZUC.
The information session was rich in content and detailed in explanations. It included an analysis of the current international high-level exhibition industry, as well as the characteristics and achievements of talent cultivation in the exhibition major at ICMS. It showcased the campus environment, curriculum structure, international standing, and faculty of ICMS, providing students with a clearer understanding of ICMS and the international exhibition industry. The exchange between Chinese and foreign teachers and students was enthusiastic, achieving positive results and offering important guidance for the future study and career planning of students.
