In order to cultivate students' awareness of being responsible for their own health, enhance self-protection consciousness, improve students' ability to identify tuberculosis and AIDS, and enhance their health literacy and disease prevention awareness, GZUC invited Dr. Long Ju, Deputy Chief Physician of the Infectious Disease Control Department of Baiyun District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Dr. Hu Hongjun, the Public Health Practitioner of the AIDS Comprehensive Prevention and Control Department of Baiyun District Center for Disease Control and Prevention, to conduct a public health lecture for students of GZUC on the afternoon of June 8th. More than 200 students from all teaching departments of the university attended the lecture.
Dr. Long Ju has been engaged in tuberculosis prevention and control for a long time and currently serves as the Chief of the Chronic Disease Department at Baiyun District Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Long Ju gave a lecture to the students of Grade 2021 and 2022 on the topic of "Tuberculosis Prevention and Control in Colleges." He combined his years of practical experience to explain what tuberculosis is, why we need to pay attention to tuberculosis, and how to prevent tuberculosis, handle tuberculosis outbreaks in colleges, latent tuberculosis infection, and preventive treatment. The aim was to further educate students about the dangers of tuberculosis and preventive measures, improve their awareness and self-control ability in participating in tuberculosis prevention and control, and effectively prevent and control the spread of pulmonary tuberculosis in colleges.
Dr. Hu Hongjun is a public health practitioner and health manager. He focused on the topic of "Prevention of AIDS" and started with the Q&A session about AIDS. He mainly discussed the prevalence, basic knowledge, harms, and prevention of AIDS, helping students to have a deeper understanding of AIDS and learn how to respond to it. He guided students to understand AIDS, establish correct health concepts and lifestyle beliefs, actively prevent AIDS, and treat AIDS patients correctly.
The lecture received widespread praise from the students who attended. The students expressed that they will pay more attention to their own health and self-health management in the future, and they believe that this lecture has played a strong role in creating a healthy and safe campus environment.
